How should I spell aluminum?

The North American standard is to spell it as aluminum. So that's how I spell it.

British people say aluminium, as do Australians. Europeans say that or something similar, the extra i.

Canadians bend toward the British way of spelling. I bend even farther than that - a story for another day.

But I won't spell it as aluminium. That's too needlessly weird, even for me.

Why do people spell it as aluminium? Chemical elements include chromium, sodium, titanium, calcium, cadmium and, well, aluminium.

So there is a logic to it. Huh. But I will still spell it as aluminum.

We're not quite done here. Who are Canadians? Canada includes Francophone Quebec, and they pronounce it as aluminium.

Hmm ..

(I think there was some confusion here).

I might use a bit of both.

A lot of aluminium comes from Quebec.
